Tampa Bay Sun FC - Playoffs
Your Tampa Bay Sun are now USL Super League Champions! Tough to sum up everything that happened this season; the team began its inaugural journey back in August with an all new stadium, new facilities, new teammates, and a city with new fans (some of whom didn’t even know the rules of the sport yet). I remember taking photos of the first few games, and my friends would still message me “we have soccer?” Now the entire city knows the Sun. The team battled through adversity like an championship team needs to: a hurricane that destroyed the jumbotron, injuries after just coming back from injury, heat delays, and an unlikely path to homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. In the end, they secured a comeback in the semis and won in overtime in the championship. They earned the cup, they shined at the boat parade, and they inspired a city of new fans that The Sun Always Rises. I’m so proud of the team and stoked that I got to be a part of it from the beginning. I know these are memories everyone in attendance will not forget.
